Singer’s Guide for Teens – Day 1

🎤 Ready to Get Started?

In this video, you’ll learn a cool vocal exercise called the “Voiced V” exercise! It’s designed to help you improve how you use your voice, making it stronger and more controlled. Here’s what you can expect to learn and practice:

What is the “Voiced V” Exercise About?

This exercise is all about making a long “V” sound and then smoothly switching to an “E” vowel sound. It might sound simple, but it’s really powerful for singers and anyone who wants to improve their voice. The exercise helps with:

  • Breath Control: You’ll learn how to control your breathing better, which is super important for singing and speaking clearly.
  • Enhancing Resonance: By practicing the switch from “V” to “E,” you’ll learn how to make your voice sound fuller and richer.
  • Vocal Warm-up: It gently warms up your voice, making sure it’s ready for singing or speaking.

How to Do the Exercise

  1. Deep Breath: Start by taking a big breath in through your nose.
  2. Create the “V” Sound: As you breathe out, make a long “V” sound, feeling the vibrations around your lips and nose. Stay relaxed!
  3. Sustain the Sound: Keep the “V” sound going for a few seconds at a steady volume and pitch.
  4. Transition to “E”: After holding the “V” sound, smoothly change to an “E” vowel. Keep the sound coming from the front of your mouth.

Practicing Together

The video guides you through a fun vocal exercise using a 3-1 pattern, which sounds a bit like a doorbell! You’ll practice moving your voice up and down a scale. Remember to:

  • Aim for a smooth transition between “V” and “E.”
  • Adjust your posture and breath if you feel any tension.

By the end of the video, you’ll have a great new way to warm up your voice and make it sound awesome!
